Menu Scout's restaurant directory has been retired.
Menu Scout used to list fast-casual restaurants across 30 US cities. Every listing was an illustrative, template-generated profile rather than a verified record of a real restaurant, and that was disclosed on our About page — but on review we decided a directory of placeholder listings wasn't a good use of anyone's time, so we've taken it down rather than continue publishing it.
What happened
The directory previously covered 30 cities and 12 cuisines with 540 restaurant profiles. Those profiles were generated from a name/menu/price template and were never tied to specific real-world storefronts — a fact we disclosed on the About page, but which we've concluded made the directory more misleading than useful in practice, especially in individual restaurant pages that carried structured contact details (address, phone number) alongside the illustrative content. We have removed the entire directory: every restaurant page, every city page, every cuisine page, and the associated ranking pages.
Nothing has been replaced with new placeholder content. If you're looking for real, verified restaurant information, we'd recommend a source that publishes verified, individually-sourced listings rather than a template-based sample.
